Agenda:
1. Go through document Jonathan sent out
2. Go through Design page 2 questions (Debbie)
Purpose of the APP is therapeutic and its an extension of PTSD therapy group. Using social tools vets can share their stories with other vets that were in their same area of service.
Vets can connect virtually or in their immediate area (in real life).
Shawn- let's not make the virtual connections too complicated. They can still use Facebook or something like that. Lets focus on the conversation side of this and the connections of individuals. I think we should focus on a few things and do them well within the app.
Debbie- leave room within the app to expand if we would like to later.
Shawn- I think we may be trying to do too much and re-create Facebook, but I think we should focus just a few things for the app to make them amazing for the user
Debbie- I think what goes into that is their personal information. When putting in their description, they can put in their distinguishing characteristics and factors so that when others have a good idea of the person the connections could really happen. Buzz words? How extensive does the monitoring of the app get so that we could really monitor who may need extra assistance.
Jonathan- As we go into each map/region, there will need to be discussion groups/forums for each.
Credibility is extremely important. Need to think of which questions we could have them answer so that we could really connect people as they should be.
Ok… veering off… Here we go
Purpose is to connect individuals virtually or in the real world. This app is also an extension of a PTSD therapy group.
Our app goal is not to treat, maybe we could have just a link to an outside source
Access: Once diagnosed with PTSD, they are given an access number that allows them to join the app once downloaded. (Fee is decided upon who buys the app).
LogIn: Vision is that the vet can log in and can then navigate to the map that they served (Ex: if served in Iraq, they will only be able to access Iraq map, not Afghanistan).
Initial set up when first logged in- picture uploaded can be whichever they would like (from phone or take one at the moment).
Do we need an intro. page that explains what they app does or a disclaimer that says that the app is for private use only, etc. Describing the security. Have an introduction that says what the app does?
*This could be included in the description at the app store*
Yes, we do want a disclaimer… a reminder of confidentiality. Before LogIn Page. Maybe we could ask the VA for wording on this… this is later- maybe we can just design what we want it to look like, but this could happen later.
Navigation: Choose which area they would like to go to (Google Earth). Start with the country and then you are able to zoom in to the province, then once they are there, the could see the pictures of people who are online who have also served in that province. This would also lead to a discussion group.
Shawntel- Would the discussion grow and be ongoing so that we could scroll back 3 days later.
They should be threads that last about 48 hours depending on the amount of activity so that others could go back when logging on and see what has happened.
Have a separate ability that if there is a specific group talking about a common thing, they could create their own chat. Could have maybe up to 10 people in a chat.
Let's hold on this.. go back to the original idea of having the 2 discussion options
If there are many people on at the same time, there could be a regional holding behind the scenes (Ex. so that it is not spread Alaska to Florida, it is kept florida in whole with discussions).
Maybe we could have the people who are online be one color and the people who are registered be another color so that you can still search for a buddy or someone that you have connected with before.
Are we going to have pre-determined threads or are they are to start their own threads?
Each province would have its own discussion board and the purpose of the pictures is that so one can tap on a picture and directly IM with them.
Do we want a search?
It could be good to have it on there but it's not something that many people share with their platoon.
Only people who have PTSD have access.
If we have a search we could stray away from the therapeutic part of it. We are focusing on the conversation.
Need a place to invite someone to a personal chat- could be as simple as clicking on their picture.
We need navigation (a menu/buttons) that allows one to go from the province that they zoom into to the discussion board. Those need to be designed. How do you go from page to page, what does it look like? Add these questions to Design Page 2
Maybe we could sit down in Florida and sketch these navigations so that we can send them to Clark so that he has a visual of what to create.
Lets draw up some ideas and bring them to Florida so that we can discuss in person.
Information Visible: Name, Deployment-- OAF/OIF, province/location, duty position/credibility * In initial set up*
How do they get a picture up there? Back to logIn, when they first sign up, they will be prompted to upload a picture.
Platform: We have the App, do we want to allow something like Google + as well so that we can access the PTSD as well from a computer.
No, it could take away from the security. Its not that we don't say that we never want it to be available on the computer, but whoever buys the app could then make that decision. The premise of this app is security and we don't want to mess with its credibility.
App is built in HTML, so it could be transferred to computer if needed for the future.
Going back to basics. We do not want this to become too much of a social media platform, therefore, let's take away the pictures/video option to upload.
Design Page 2 --> we can go to the page and make comments in either another color and/or bold and then we can come back to discuss Thursday night after Paul. If we have already answered these questions, we can refer back to this meeting. Things that we may want to consider or not consider as we design the app.
Some of the funding options that we found were that we needed a business plan- so if we would like to compete, we need that BUT not necessary for class.
Do we need to focus on the disability needs for this? NO because it's not educational.
