What does our community need?

Shawntel-OK, I am basing this on listening to Jonathan but I hear him say the following...the community needs a secure environment; ability to connect and discuss experiences with people who "get" it because of shared experience; ability to find this community in a simple way via a common tool (app).

What sort of experience will they respond to...or not?

Shawntel-Again, I am basing this on conversations with Jonathan, my uncle and several friends who are vets. Our target users will respond to a no-frills environment that is easy to navigate, has a visual appeal that sticks closely to a military/patriotic theme, allows connections to be made easily in a trusted environment (IE no anonymous posts and no outsiders), and enables methods of communicating in both public and private manners (forum and messaging?). They will NOT respond to a complicated app-if they want to chat, they want to chat, they don't want to have to "navigate" too much. They will NOT respond to busy visuals. They will NOT respond to an environment that does not feel "authentic" (people slamming others, posting spam, being dishonest or just bragging and not listening-and this is where community curation intersects, right?)
